We are here to help!

Our practice established The Happy Smiles Club in 2016. Our mission is to improve parents and children awareness of the importance of good oral health.

We do this by offering personalised appointments in one of our 4 Oral Health Education Suites and by visiting the local schools and community groups.

We believe it is key to support the work of parents at home, so every child can grow up with the skills and knowledge to keep their teeth free from tooth decay. We believe there should be no barriers to access oral health care.

We want to encourage positive change and create a lasting impact on our local community.

Tooth decay is totally preventable.

NHS dental treatment is free for under 18’s.

We welcome adults as well as children.

These appointments are generally advised by your dentist if they think you or your child could do with a little extra help and support keeping the mouth clean and healthy.

This is a free NHS service.

Patients are free to self-refer for this service, you don’t need to ask permission from your dentist, simply ask the receptionist to book an oral health talk.

Your Oral Health Educator will take you through a social history questionnaire. This is nothing to worry about! It is just so we can get a clear picture of your current oral health status. We will also discuss diet and the impact of sugars and acid on the teeth. We may apply a fluoride varnish or carry out disclosing. Disclosing products contain a harmless vegetable dye that reacts with biofilm (plaque bacteria) staining it a bright colour usually pink or blue, which is easily brushed away with a toothbrush and toothpaste. This is a great way of showing areas missed when brushing! We always aim to review patients a month later, which we would recommend however this is totally optional.

We help you with:
★ Toothbrushing techniques
★ Cleaning in-between your teeth
★ Dietary advice
★ Denture hygiene advice
★ How to manage periodontal disease
★ How to manage orthodontic appliances
★ Disclosing analysis
★ Advice on smoking and where to get information to quit
★ Confidence building for nervous patients
If prescribed by your dentist:
★ Fluoride treatment
